When most players discuss card advantage in MTG, they think blue – but green is just as capable, if not more so. While blue can offer valid selection, green excels at leveraging your creatures for value. But that begs the question – what is the best MTG green card draw?
The best MTG green card draw takes advantage of the versatile synergies green has with many permanent types. While there are exceptions, most of the green color’s card advantage rewards you for using large armies of creatures or building a strategy around lands or enchantments.
Now that we know what to keep aware of when drawing cards in green, we can get to the best examples. This list isn’t in any ranked order, though. These picks can be the best when used in the correct deck. So, read on to learn the best MTG green card draw.
Green Draw Cards MTG
1. Glimpse of Nature
The Glimpse of Nature is simple, but there’s tremendous power there.
Whenever you cast a creature spell, the turn you play it, you draw a card. And it only costs one green mana – so it won’t interfere with your tempo either.
This rare sorcery from Champions of Kamigawa has an impressive fourteen Top 8 wins in Pro Tours and Legacy tournaments. It’s a fundamental part of the creature-focused Legacy Elves deck. Its incredible draw abilities are one of the deck’s main engines.
So, in a deck where you can consistently cast several cheap creatures in a turn, Glimpse of Nature can draw you over five cards for a single mana. If you can use those creatures to add mana – as Elves can – you can keep this loop going until you eventually find a deadly win condition.
2. Sylvan Library
Sylvan Library lets you draw three cards per turn, every turn.
It’s a favorite of every format from cEDH to Legacy – and it has eight Pro Tour, and Worlds Top 8 wins to show for it.
This enchantment works because it lets you draw two additional cards in each of your draw steps. However, you can only keep one of those cards for free. Each card you retain past the first costs you four life. You put the rest on top of your library, in any order.
So, while you might not use Sylvan Library to its full potential too often, it remains a great way to filter through your cards consistently. It lets you Brainstorm every turn!
3. Nissa, Vastwood Seer // Nissa, Sage Animist
One of Magic Origins’ best flip-walkers, Nissa, Vastwood Seer, is a cost-effective ramp.
When she enters the battlefield, you can search your library for a forest and put it in your hand. Not only does this ability draw you a card, but it also thins your deck by removing excess mana.
Not only that, but when you have seven lands, Nissa flips into Sage Animist. This remarkable planeswalker either draws a card or ramps you as her first ability. Her other skills are no less potent, creating powerful creatures and untapping your lands.
For these reasons, Nissa, Vastwood Seer, has an impressive seventeen inclusions in the Top 8 Pro Tour and World Championship decks. This version of Nissa, due to being an elf with landfall abilities, is also a natural fit in many mono-green Commander builds.
4. Wall of Blossoms
Wall of Blossoms is a creature – a 0/4 plant wall – that draws a card when it enters the battlefield.
For only two mana, this card style has always been on the curve, hence why this wall has seen continual reprints since Tempest.
Not only that, but unlike many other green card draw effects, you can flicker the Wall of Blossoms to draw multiple cards. Similarly, it’s valid even after you cast it.
And while its unremarkable text might suggest otherwise, Wall of Blossoms nevertheless has a decent competitive record. Pros have played this unassuming wall in seven Top 8 decks across Pro Tours, Worlds, and historic Championships.
5. Harmonize
Few green sorceries are as popular as Harmonize – and for a good reason.
For four mana, this spell draws you three cards. In green, that’s excellent. It’s one of the few green draw spells that can match blue’s power curve.
No wonder then that 12% of all EDHREC decks run a copy of Harmonize. Harmonize also has seen play in five Pro Tour Top 8 decks, primarily in ramp-focused decks that can afford its high mana cost.
Regardless of your specific strategy, any deck can benefit from refilling its hand. So, for a color that usually doesn’t get straight card draw, Harmonize is a fantastic addition.
6. Argothian Enchantress
The critical piece of the infamous Enchantress deck, the titular Argothian Enchantress, is a fantastic green card draw.
While it’s in play, you draw a card whenever you cast an enchantment spell.
You can quickly amass a formidable board with this card alone since it replaces every enchantment you cast. So, if you play powerful enchantments, you can instead play twice as many. That’s especially true if you run auras that ramp you or buff your creatures.
Argothian Enchantress also has the shroud keyword, protecting it from most removal spells. And together, its helpful abilities have earned it a place in over 10,000 EDHREC Commander decks.
7. Greater Good
Greater Good is an enchantment that lets you sacrifice a creature to draw cards equal to its power, then discard three cards.
This ability is an excellent sacrifice outlet and a way to fill your graveyard. Plus, it is a sound card selection.
Even if you sacrifice a four-power creature to Greater Good, you still get to see four cards and keep one. If you’re playing a madness or dredge strategy, those cards you discard can also be threats.
Likewise, you can also feed creatures to Greater Good if they’d die anyway, letting you craft a perfect hand. It shouldn’t surprise then that this green enchantment has seen four Top 8s in Worlds 2005, plus a reprint in the recent Forgotten Realms Commander set.
8. Garruk, Primal Hunter
For only single green mana more than Harmonize, this version of Garruk can quickly draw anywhere from four to seven cards.
Specifically, his second ability draws cards equal to the highest power among creatures you control – and green excels at high-stat bodies.
Not only that, but if Garruk, Primal Hunter, sticks around afterward, his other abilities are excellent also. Garruk’s first ability defends your side with a 3/3 beast token. In contrast, his ultimate ability creates a 6/6 wurm for each land you have.
This impressive suite of abilities makes the Primal Hunter one of green’s best planeswalkers and card draw options. The pros know this too – they’ve used Garruk, Primal Hunter, in seven Pro Tour and World Championship Top 8 finishes.
9. Regal Force
Regal Force is a true showstopper of a card, a 5/5 elemental for eight mana.
You draw a card for each of your green creatures when it enters. In a mono-green deck, that can easily be over seven creatures – and before the eighth turn, too.
Regal Force is an excellent way to shut the door on a game that might otherwise drag on. And, if you’ve got the mana for it, it is an easy way to get back in the match. Even if it only draws you one or two cards, it leaves behind a massive body for your opponent to answer.
