Best Exodia Deck Cards [YuGiOh Exodia Cards Guide]

Being a duelist aside from winning through beating down your opponent another strategy is to win by card game mechanics in a deck like “Exodia”.

As each of us all remembers when our protagonist Yugi Moto has been cornered by Seto Kaiba’s Blue Eyes White Dragon spamming his field and then Yugi Moto suddenly reversed the game by drawing the winning card which is the last piece of his Exodia the Forbidden One deck thus using his famous mind crush on Kaiba.

But the question is if an Exodia deck can really win games in an actual duel?

It is always cool to win with an Exodia deck as seen on different online platforms like Master Duel or in tournaments where every spectator would want to see if you can pull off the 5 Exodia parts.

Below are strategies and best cards to use in which you can make reference to start your very own Exodia Deck.

Trap Draw Exodia

Monster: 12

1 Exodia the Forbidden One

1 Right Arm of the Forbidden One

1 Left Arm of the Forbidden One

1 Right Leg of the Forbidden One

1 Left Leg of the Forbidden One

1 Sangan

3 Swift Scarecrow

3 Battle Fader

Spells: 5

3 Pot of Duality

1 One Day of Peace

1 Upstart Goblin

Traps: 23

3 Hope for Escape

3 Reckless Greed

3 Legacy of Yata-Garasu

3 Jar of Greed

3 Threatening Roar

3 Waboku

2 Accumulated Fortune

Extra Deck: 2

1 Salamangreat Almiraj

1 Altergeist Hestia

The strategy of this deck is to stall the game until you complete the setup for the trap draw engine.

The trap draw engine will be needing 4 cards to build a multiple card chain effect. This is to utilize the trap card Accumulated Fortune effect which can only be activated at Chain 4 or higher. This is like activating Pot of Greed but in a legal way.

You should prioritize drawing the trap draw engine so you can draw a minimum of 5 cards or more.

Example of the chain building you can use activating Chain Link 1 Reckless Greed / Chain Link 2 Legacy of Yata-Garasu / Chain Link 3 Jar of Greed / Chain Link 4 Accumulated Fortune.

After you have drawn the cards from these trap effects, you should at least draw some of the needed parts of Exodia and after that continue to stall the game with your Swift Scarecrow and Battle Fader until you build all the parts of Exodia.

You will also need to allow your opponent to give you some life point damage to utilize cards like Hope for Escape.  You need to also be wary of attack modifying cards in the damage step in which both your Battle Fader and Swift Scarecrow will not save you from attacks.

Salamangreat Almiraj is solely for the purpose of getting an Exodia part upon using Sangan as a link material.

The extra deck depends on the preference of the player in which they can add cards like Altergeist Hestia and make your opponent believe that you are playing Altergeist as you will just always set 4 cards and pass the turn.

Timing is everything in this deck as you need to correctly build the correct chain on the traps and decide if you will let your opponent’s attack go through if you feel your life point is safe.

Spell Counter Draw Exodia

Monster: 14

3 Royal Magical Library

1 Exodia the Forbidden One

1 Right Arm of the Forbidden One

1 Left Arm of the Forbidden One

1 Right Leg of the Forbidden One

1 Left Leg of the Forbidden One

3 White Stone of Legend

3 Blue Eyes White Dragon

Spell: 26

3 Trade In

3 Magical Mallet

3 Cards of Consonance

3 Toon  Table of Contents

1 Toon World

2 Magical Citadel of Endymion

3 Golden Bamboo Sword

2 Broken Bamboo Sword

1 Cursed Bamboo Sword

1 Terraforming

1 Dark World Dealings

1 Upstart Goblin

1 One Day of Peace

1 Pot of Duality

Extra Deck: 1

1 Salamangreat Almiraj

The strategy of the deck is to abuse Royal Magical Library together with the draw engine spells to draw out the Exodia parts.

Once you have Royal Magical Library and Magical Citadel of Endymion in the field, it is easier to draw out the other draw engine spells to further reach out the remaining Exodia parts in your deck.  The duo of White stone of Legend and Cards of Consonance will fetch out the Trade In and Blue Eyes White Dragon draw combo.

The Bamboo Sword spells engine and Toon World spells engine are additional spell cards to generate more spell counter to the Royal Magic Library. The Salamangreat Almiraj is for the White Stone of Legend in case you need to send it to the graveyard to fetch the Blue Eyes White Dragon for Trade In cost.

Another good card you can add to this deck is Piri Reis Map which is a good searcher for Royal Magical Library but preferably only 1 copy on the deck as you don’t want to draw multiple copies of this card.

The extra deck for this Exodia deck varies as per player preference depending on their local tournament meta.

As an Exodia player, you can’t just reveal that you are playing this deck, surprising your opponents once the spell draw engine rolls out is the method.  A good Exodia player will hide in the crowd pretending to be a harmless player as everyone is expecting their opponent’s strategy is to just beat out the enemy’s life points.

As luck is always a factor in card games, especially in Yugioh, it is best to go first with this deck to minimize the opponent interruption. Also, it is best that you draw the Exodia parts through the spell draw engine instead of having 2-3 Exodia parts in your opening hand so you can proceed with the spell draw engine combo.

There are also other variants of Exodia like the decks that are focused on The Legendary Exodia Incarnate.

The strategy is to dump the Exodia parts and make a beefy The Legendary Exodia Incarnate faceup in your field and every end phase you can add the Exodia parts from your graveyard. This is still the same strategy as the provided sample decklist above wherein you need to complete the Exodia parts in order to win through game mechanics.

This is also the same with Exodia variant decks that are utilizing different archetype’s draw effects to complete the Exodia parts.

The game is evolving with new card sets released every year which are creating more power creep decks thus we believed the best way to use this deck is to complete the Exodia parts by drawing them through card effects instead of facing the opponent head-on in battle.

While playing this deck it is best to be discrete to surprise your opponent.

This is like when Jarel McKay Winston as the USA representative plays the deck in the Yugioh World Championship 2012 level where he surprises everyone and also every duelist in the world as each player on that stage were preparing hard counters for the Inzektor deck which are the meta on that tournament.

It is always a cool way to win when you complete the Exodia parts and hear the spectators cheering up on your game. You just need to believe in the heart of the cards to win. So get your game On!
